Full investigation
Pending the publication of its investigation report, the MAIB has recommended the RIB’s manufacturer locate the boats sold by its dealers in the UK and Eire which have not been rigged and inspected by an authorised representative prior to delivery and to check the standard of rigging on these hulls is at least equivalent to the standard detailed in its commissioning guide, alerting owners to any deficiencies identified and any remedial action required. The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) has also informed its powerboat instructors of the circumstances of this accident and the British Marine Federation (BMF) is in the process of re-iterating the requirements of the Recreational Craft Directive to its membership. |
